Volkswagen to launch eight new electric vehicle models by 2027
First of all, it is thought that Volkswagen is making an important strategy to regain its market share and gain an assertive position in the affordable electric vehicle segment. Thomas Schaefer, the company’s brand manager, stated that with the new models, they aim to increase profitability and make electric vehicles more accessible.
We can say that the reduction of the development period of the small electric vehicle named ID.2 from 50 to 36 months is an indicator that this transformation wants to be accelerated. In fact, this model is planned to be introduced at the end of this year and will be developed on the MEB Entry platform. This 226 horsepower vehicle will offer a range of up to 450 km and will be an important alternative in the small vehicle segment.
Of course, Volkswagen is not only targeting the ID.2. In addition to models such as ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, ID.5, ID.6, ID.7 and ID.Buzz, an entry-level ID.1 series is also planned. In fact, the starting price of these new models is expected to be around 20 thousand Euros. In other words, they plan to make electric vehicles accessible to a wider audience.
Obviously, Volkswagen’s ambitious plan will further intensify the competition in the electric vehicle market. What do you think about this? You can write your opinions in the comments section below.
